Julie Wenninger

High School Teacher

I grew up in the small town of Wayne on the eastern side of Wisconsin.  I graduated from UW-LaCrosse with a B.S. in biology in 1997 and from the Medical College of Wisconsin with a Ph.D. in physiology in 2003.

I spent nearly 20 years doing biomedical research at MCW and UW-Madison in the departments of Comparative Biology and Surgery studying the brain and the control of breathing, sex differences in breathing development and sex differences and aging in the control of breathing, and the effects of targeted exercise on the jaw and tongue brain map with age.

My husband, Chris, and I have lived in Reedsburg since 2004.  I have the privilege of being a mother to 3 boys (Simon, Noah and Micah) and attend Trinity Baptist Church.  Through my career in science, I have had the opportunity to study the pinnacle of God's creation - the human body - and marvel at His handiwork and complexity...and yet He has given us the tools and creativity to collectively, over centuries, discover and understand His created work.
